Women’s Aid ABCLN ‘Make it Better Week’ 20th-26th May 2019
The Week kicked off on Sunday the 19th of May when four very brave ladies harnessed up and put their helmets on as they ziplinned over Belfast’s Lagan River. Pictured is Ase McWilliams with a smile of relief after her leap of faith for Womens Aid ABCLN.
The ladies from Women’s Aid ABCLN Ballymena begun their ‘Make It Better Week’ by ‘making a cuppa’ in the office to show their support for children affected by domestic violence.
Next was the Fundraising Quiz in Starbucks at Junction one Antrim, where the community gathered on Tuesday the 22nd of May for a fun ad competitive evening in support of children affected by domestic violence.
On Wednesday the 22nd of May it was Newtonabbey’s turn to host a ‘Make a Cuppa’ for ‘Make It Better Week’. The morning turned out to be a huge success as the office raised £357 for children affected by domestic violence and were even joined by local figures such as Mayor John Smyth. Special thanks is given to sponsors MD Loughrey Solicitors and Tescos Northcott and Newtonabbey, for their continued support and donations to a great cause.
The Dobbins Inn Carrickfergus held the next fundraising quiz for ‘Make It Better Week’ on Friday the 24th of May. The stunning venue hosted a night of good craic and prizes for the locals of Carrickfergus who came together to raise an incredible £571 for children affected by domestic violence. Special thanks is given to Maureen and Derek Fallis, the hosts of the evening.
The Larne Sponsored Walk on Saturday the 25th of May was a huge success, as the light shower of rain eased for the morning walkers. The group headed off along the coast road to Carnfunnock Park, marching in support of Women’s Aid ABCLN and their work to help children affected by domestic violence.
Women’s Aid ABCLN ‘Make It Better Week’ finale was the ‘Make It Better Cup’ on Saturday the 8th of June. The day hosted a fun-filled football tournament for young girls from a range of clubs in the community who came together to raise a spectacular £820 for children affected by domestic violence. Many thanks to the players and officials, as well as hosts Greenisland FC and sponsors Amazing Brains NI, for their commitment to the charity. That’s a wrap!
The ‘Make It Better Week’ at Women’s Aid ABCLN was a huge success in raising funds to support children affected by domestic violence. It was the efforts and generosity of people in all communities to whom we owe this success and are forever grateful for.
