For International Women's Day 2017 Women in our Larne office Created a tree collage for the wall of the office downstairs. The hands make up the leaves of the tree with inspirational sayings on them. The tree was designed by volunteer Shelley.

15th June World Elder Abuse Day Event 
The quiz held in Carrickfergus raised a brilliant £255.00. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with prizes and snacks and to those organisations in Carrickfergus for donating gifts for the raffle.

The Living and Surviving OCN celebration Lunch at the Church of the Nazarene.  6 women received their certificates and the ladies of the Church made a beautiful lunch for everyone. The women of the Church were presented with a bouquet of flowers to thank them for their support.

On Wednesday 2 July 14 representatives were invited to a central location by Ballymena PSNI to take their pick from the huge selection of clothes, shoes, handbags, toiletries, household items and fancy goods, most of which were still labelled and in excellent condition.

Ballymena Mayor, Councillor Mrs Audrey Wales MBE, visits refuge on 28th Nov.  She had lunch with staff and women in honour of the 15th anniversary of the refuge and her visit also coincided with the 16 days of action.

The Reconnect group hang ribbons to represent the 16 Days of Action.  Wearing a White Ribbon is a symbol the wearer pledges ‘never to commit, condone or stay silent about violence against women’.

To raise awareness of violence against women 6th form pupils from two schools (130 pupils) debated “should a woman stay in an abusive relationship” and took part in the string exercise which shows the many barriers and external agencies a woman has to overcome and meet in order to keep her children and herself safe.

On March 8, the U.S. Consulate General Belfast commemorated International Women’s Day. Leaders from the academic, financial, government, law, and NGO sectors joined Victoria College students for a themed discussion on “Courage in Action: The Vital Role of Women in the Northern Ireland Peace Process,” moderated by Acting Deputy Consul General Penny Wilkinson. Following the discussion, the group “traveled” to Washington via live web streaming to watch U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama host the 6th annual International Women of Courage Awards, honoring 10 remarkable women from around the world.  Included in the picture below are Rosemary Magill (Area Manager) and Lorna Dougherty (Women's Safety Worker) of Women's Aid ABCL&N.
